The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s Diagnostic Excellence Initiative
The American Collegee乐彩app官方下载旧版 of Radiology (ACR) is honored to receive an award from the (Moore Foundation), a philanthropic entity that supports measurable, durable solutions to important problems, including those in health care. Specifically, the Moore Foundation’s Diagnostic Excellence Initiative aims to reduce harm from erroneous or delayed diagnoses.
The Moore Foundation’s Initiative also addresses the need to improve diagnostic performance; reduce costs and redundancy in the diagnostic process; improve health outcomes; and save lives. Under this award, ACR will develop a clinical quality measure to improve adherence to evidence-based recommended follow-up imaging for incidentally detected abnormal findings.
Closing the Results Follow-Up Loop
As proposed, the patient-centered Closing the Results Follow-Up Loop (Closing the Loop) quality measure concept will assess diverse practices’ adoption of systematic tracking and care coordination to encourage the delivery of evidence-based radiologist-recommended follow-up care. Results of successful performance in this proposed measure includes a greater volume of patients benefiting from early detection of cancer or other treatable conditions and ensuring treatment as appropriate.
ACR’s announcement of the award may be found here.

Call for Nominations
ACR is seeking multidisciplinary stakeholders to serve on a Technical Expert Panel (TEP). This panel will be responsible for refining the quality concept, informing appropriate measure specification details, and assisting with the testing and implementation of the proposed quality measure.
TEP members will be selected to ensure representation from a variety of stakeholders, including (but not limited to) physicians, other clinicians or healthcare professionals, measure science experts or developers, and quality improvement professionals. ACR is committed to capturing the patient perspective. As such, we also invite nominations from patients and caregivers (i.e., family members or non-family members).
Those appropriate for nomination into this TEP should maintain relevant expertise or experience with (at least one of the following):
- Radiology, primary care, oncology, emergency care physicians/clinicians or similar specialties
- Measurement science experts
- Cost and resource use
- Receiving radiological care (or a caregiver of someone who has received radiological care)
All potential TEP members must disclose any current and past activities prior to and during the nomination process in order to be considered.
Participation on the Panel requires a significant time commitment.
TEP members are expected to participate in all scheduled meetings and calls. Over the course of the 18-month development project, there will be approximately 10-14 conference calls and at least two in-person meetings in Reston, Virginia.
Panel participation includes:
- Participation in the scheduled meeting dates
- Identify and disclose potential biases (real or perceived)
- Complete all surveys and evaluations
- Review provided materials in advance of meetings
- Provide input during the TEP meetings
- Review summaries and/or draft reports resultant of the meeting
- Consideration for participating in testing and data collection
The nomination period closed on February 17, e乐彩app官方下载旧版 at 5:00 PM ET. Please check back later for the official TEP roster.
For those considering nominating themselves or being nominated by a third party, please use these date ranges when making the decision as to whether you are able to participate. We understand that these dates are vague and hope to update this section with greater detail as soon as possible.
